Mining: How is the sector developing?

Why do foreign companies come to Kazakhstan and stay?

According to the Committee on Statistics of the Ministry of National Economy, mining and quarrying is still a strong investment retaining 40.2% of the total share of economic capital raised last year.

The interaction of industry organisations with foreign companies for the mining industry has become a favourable environment both side and collaboration is now considered ‘best practice’.

Representatives of MICROMINE Central Asia, Outotec and FLSmidth Central Asia, all of which have been working in the industry for many years, claim that state-run projects in the industry make it one of the fastest growing. The range of interests and cooperation covers both the supply of environmentally friendly technological solutions and software development.

According to Zhaskhan Bayrov, Regional Manager of MICROMINE Central Asia, one of the attractive investment conditions created by the state, is the decision to switch to the digital environment in mining and its application – Industry 4.0.

“The decision to digitalize production is an advantage for MICROMINE and our software, since our focus activity is the development of software for the mining industry, where the transition to Industry 4.0 is already being actively implemented according to the message of the country’s president. One of the favourable factors was the creation of a single reporting standard KAZRC.”

MICROMINE not only actively co-operates with all state officials stakeholders, but today it has already successfully implemented a number of projects with the participation of the Ministry of Industry and Infrastructure Development of Kazakhstan, the Committee for Geology and Subsoil Use of the Ministry of Industry and New Technologies and other government departments. Projects included software delivery, staff training, and follow-up technical support.

It is worth noting here that MICROMINE Central Asia LLP is an honorary member of the KAZRC Association Standards Committee, which consists of professionals in the field of exploration and mining.
